| Introduction to Tessellations 0 86651 461 9 Seymour & Britton This book is an excellent introduction to the subject and the enthusiasm and thoroughness of the authors combine to make it a very useful teaching resource. It starts with simple shapes which can tessellate on their own and then introduces modifications and complexities one at a time. Often there are suggestions for explorations which bring out the important features of each new type of tessellation as it is being introduced. The final chapter is called 'Creating Escher-like Tessellations' and it draws upon works by Escher and other artists to explain how such designs can be made.

Tilings Posters Andrew Crompton There is a particular delight in patterns which are made solely from a single repeating motif or tile. The pleasure is even greater when the motif is a representation of a living or mythical creature. Escher was a master at creating such creatures and so also is Andrew Crompton, as this pair of colourful posters demonstrates. Animal Tilings Poster £2.80(+VAT)
